Woodpecker | Kerrie Gordon Stained Glass

This series was inspired by a piece of black-and white-streaked Fremont glass. Fremont glass is produced here in the U.S. using the old-world, hand-blown tradition, which results in amazing, unique color effects. The black-and-white pattern of this particular piece of glass mimics the feather pattern of the woodpeckers that have visited my yard. Other colors found on the woodpecker are chosen, and the glass pieces are then assembled into a more abstract representation of each type of woodpecker.
