One day, as I am reorganizing my studio, I come across a handful of red glass 'nuggets', and see flowers - roses to be specific. I sketch a pattern, incorporate a trellis, find some intriguing scraps of multi-colored glass, and end up with Roses Rising. The central section is reminiscent of appliquéd images found on quilts and, also like a quilt, has a border of pieced-together scraps.
